Learning and Worship during Lent - February 24 - April 1
Collaborative Book Study in Lent - Discuss the history of racism in America with Schenectady's first Black church, the Duryee Memorial AME Zion Church. Pastors Todd and Catherine will lead a class on alternate weeks on the book The Color of Compromise during our reflective season of Lent. From February 24 to April 1 the in-person class is on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:00 AM, and the zoom class is on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Interested people should buy the book. One Church to One Among Many
On Tuesday evenings February 24 to March 24 at 6:00-7:00 pm in Poling Chapel
One church always reforming - The only constant is change
Church archivist/historian Laura Lee and the Archives and Historical Concerns Committee will take us through the records of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady telling of our history, our stories, of how we have lived and served according to the covenant we now use as a description of our congregation, its purpose and mission.
The weekly themes will be:
1. Brotherhood, the colonial crucible, tolerance of diversity
2. Community strife, divisions, survival as a community
3. Mission through traditions, family stories, growth-expansion-opportunities, community leadership, political, racial and cultural choices
4. Church money, religion-government-education, industries
5. Enslavement, abolition, interfaith actions, global inclusiveness

Morning and evening Wednesday Bible study sessions.
